A time to Remember….

Mr. Aaron Pruitt, Sr

Aaron Pruitt, Sr, affectionately known as “Punk” or “Pruitt” gained his wings on Tuesday July 22, 2025, at the age of 85. Aaron was the second youngest of twelve children born on February 14, 1940, in Panola, Alabama to Odie and Lillie Pruitt.

Aaron was educated in the Sumpter County School System. He with his new wife (Bertha) in hand they relocated to Boston, Mass. and would later be employed by Waste Management Company of Roxbury, Mass.

Aaron and Bertha (Quarles) were united in holy matrimony on September 14, 1957, and were blessed to have two children (Aaron “Sonny” Jr and Phyllis “Dee Dee”) and have been married for 68 years. The family eventually relocated to a Suburb of Boston (Walpole, Mass). Aaron and Bertha lived in Walpole until they retired, and they relocated back to Gainesville, Alabama in 2019.

Aaron was an entrepreneur at heart and owned several businesses from a Moving/Shipping Company; Truck Repair; Rental Property Owner; and a Full-Service Grocery Store, during his time in Boston. He was passionate about fine automobiles and could be seen cruising around Boston and later Gainesville/Panola in style.

Aaron leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Bertha Pruitt, and his son Aaron Pruitt, Jr (Mitchellville, MD); Four grandchildren, YaShauna, Aaron III (Shanel), Andre, and Addison; Three great grandchildren, (Ava, Jayden, and Jayce); one brother Hugh (Bernice) Pruitt; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved deeply.

Aaron was preceded in death by his daughter (Phyllis Dee Dee Pruitt), by both parents (Odie and Lillie Pruitt; siblings, J.P. Pruitt, Dorothy Sublet, Ethel Brown, Melvin Pruitt, Jamie Lee Pruitt, Arelia Taylor, Odies Pruitt Jr., Cager Pruitt, William “Doug” Pruitt, and Sam (JD) Pruitt.
